The Intentional Teaching Framework (ITF)

The conceptual framework that undergirds our approach is that of intentional teaching, which requires educators to know what to do in the moment, accurately see effective teaching in themselves and others, do these practices in the classroom, reflect on what works and what does not, and improve with thoughtful practices. Incorporating the Know-See-Do-Reflect-Improve approach, or the Intentional Teaching Framework (ITF), across early childhood coursework is a powerful way to develop and improve teacher practice.

Note that the framework may be entered at any point and that it is not a strict cyclical process; also, each of the elements may overlap in planning and delivery of coursework (e.g., Know and Reflect work together as students reflect together on an article they have read). Each of the outer circles overlaps one another and when used together lead to improvement.
